Play9 lands at Heathrow Airport with interactive digital kids screen

Play9 is super excited to have joined forces with Heathrow Airport delivering a Play9 Kidszone Classic within Terminal 5, voted the ‘World’s Best Airport Terminal’ for the fifth year in a row by Skytrax World Airport Awards earlier in March.

Terminal 5 is one of the busiest terminals at the airport measured by both passenger numbers and flight movements and used exclusively as a global hub. The play space features Play9’s signature Double-Sided Kidszone Classic and popular game pack ‘The Fruitables’ and is located within the British Airways check-in area.

The Play9 project at Heathrow has been in development for a period of 12 months as the team worked with Head of Retail Strategy, Passenger Experience, and Customer Operations Departments. With briefs to assist landside operations – passenger check-in desks – and also airside operations – duty-free, food and beverage and specialty retail – further units are planned across the terminals. Play9 Kidszones ensure children are engaged and adult dwell time near retail operations is enhanced, leading to a more pleasurable airport experience and increased average spend.

Play9’s work within shopping centres and retailers has been about visitation and dwell time, whereas at airports the proposition is about the experience in the terminals, ensuring the passenger flow does not continue past the retail to the boarding gates too soon. Having seen the incredible success at a number of airports the Play9 team is really excited to see the impact across multiple locations at Heathrow.
