Play9 Studios wins two Australian Good Design Awards
The winners of Australia’s peak industry design awards – the highest honour for design and innovation in the country were announced in Sydney on July 11th at the 61st annual Good Design Awards Ceremony.
Play9 Studios was presented as winners in the highly regarded Architectural Design category, in recognition for outstanding design and innovation, for both the Werribee Tree House and the Secret Forest. The annual Good Design Awards is Australia’s most prestigious international Awards for design and innovation with a proud history dating back to 1958.
“It is a huge honour to be named winners of such a respected Design award and to do so, not once, but twice, is an overwhelming privilege,” said Tanya Michaelides, Director of Play9 Studios. “It’s great recognition for our team, who have literally poured their blood, sweat and tears into both of these projects. Thanks must also go to our clients, who trust us and are as passionate about Design and Innovation in Play as we are. I think the results and the smiles on kids faces, speak for themselves.”
The Good Design Awards Jury spent several days evaluating each entry according to a strict set of design criteria which covers ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ and ‘design impact’. Projects recognised with a Good Design Award must demonstrate excellence in all areas and convince the Jury they are worthy of recognition.
The Good Design Awards Jury praised Forest Hill – Secret Forest commenting: “The children’s play centre is engaging and provides an exciting new place for discovery. Forest Hill – Secret Forest features well thought out components that are thoughtfully researched and delivered.” The Secret Forest can be found at The Loft at Forest Hill Chase. Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving a Good Design Award at this level is a significant achievement given the very high calibre of entries received this year.” The Good Design Awards attracted a record number of submissions with close to 700 design projects evaluated in this year’s awards.
In speaking of the Werribee Tree House – The Good Design Awards Jury said: “An innovative retail centre playground that rewards users with excitement, motion, intrigue and will probably be difficult to take children home from! Well done.”
